A character-led poetry performance bringing the hidden world of eighteenth-century London's molly houses vividly to life.
Miss Bianca invites you into the lively, dangerous and gloriously irreverent world of London's eighteenth-century molly houses—secret gathering places where people found friendship, laughter, love, gin and a merry tune in an age when simply being themselves could lead to prison or worse.
Part poetry performance, part storytelling, part historical theatre, Saturday Night at Miss Bianca's Molly House brings these extraordinary lives back into the light through original poems inspired by the people caught up in the 1726 raids on molly houses in London. Drawing on trial records, newspapers and pamphlets, the performance is rooted in historical research while celebrating the wit, resilience and joy of a community that refused to disappear.
Performed in character as the irrepressible Miss Bianca, the show is by turns funny, moving, bawdy, heartbreaking and defiantly hopeful. Whether you're fascinated by LGBTQ+ history, love spoken word, or simply enjoy a cracking good story, Miss Bianca has a place waiting for you.
Below you'll find a short video from a recent performance, along with a downloadable promotion sheet containing practical information for literary festivals, libraries, museums and other venues interested in booking the show.
